Pretty much what is involved compared to a head/cam job on the lt1 motor? Am I looking at a total tear down and alittle more over my head then what i wanted. Reason Im asking in my search for a project car I found a 95 t/a with a spun bearing " apparently. Car is also listed with having the lt4 hot cam kit and a "beefed up 700r4" Just hesitant on if the previous work was a quick done poor job.

car looks like a rednecks dream... depending on if the owner can supply proof of the work done to it is whether or not it is a good deal... if no proof it probably wasn't done... and if doing head/cam is above you a bottom end tear down is even worse.

That hood tells me the type of guy the owner is. I would say the work that was done was not done correctly ; should have a 4l60E being he did not mention a stall I would guess it is just the 4l60 with a shift kit. To do it correctly you will need a total rebuild on the motor have the trans checked out and install a stall converter while you have it apart.

spun rod bearing or spun main? spun rod throw the rod away.......more than likely throws the crank away.........spun main.......line bore the block or possibly trash the block if its severe........90% chance on the crank being junk.........

Hopefully it is a spun main bearing, and not bad enough to need much more work than polishing the crank when it gets rebuilt.

if its a spun main yea cutting the crank .010 could fix it hopefully if its not bad but i can guarantee you you WILL have to line bore the block

Judging by the pictures and the guys description of the car, you are probably right. I bet it is scored pretty bad

it will be bought by another redneck and reposted as a great running car fully loaded but with minor exhaust leak...

i wouldnt buy it for that price....i bought my LT1 running for $900...all it needed was a new hood and front bumper.....better deals are out there. 93's came with 700r4's, that car should have a 4l60e...i would look for something else. Just my opinion!

At go look at the car if it is close. 1600 bones for a good bodied car with 4:10 posi. Offer a grand it would make great candidate for an LSX motor or full on drag car. scrap the hood.

I'll bet it's a spun rod bearing, I have ran LT1 cranks with .020 and had no problems, If it's one rod I'll bet al of them were close to doing it, Just get them all resized,add better bolts, have the crank "turned", and if the cylenders look good just have the shop re-hone em. You could do it up right for wel less than a grand. (unless you have your your heads worked over.)

Anybody else notice one pic the car has a factory hood, the other is some other car with huge abomination of a cowl hood? Sounds like a questionable seller.

I had two mains spun on my block def wanna take it to a wellllll known shop and I had my crank turnt 10 on the rods 20 on the mains def going to need line bored and pry bored if it's a good shop they won't let u just half *** it do it right the first time and expect to spend about or a little over a 1000 bucks on machine

How do u figure rods 12.50 a piece 165 bore 175 line bore mag an mic hot tank and resurfaced and a engine rebuild kit $1548
That is the price around my area and they are even somewhat costly for around here

What kit are you buying? Mains and rod bearings are 100$ gasket set 300$, rings 100$ (all rounded numbers) 20$ for freeze plugs.

Hot tank block -40$
Hone cylinders w-deck plate -80$
Resize rods-80$ a set bolts- bolts 75$(installed)

When you line bore at the shop I use it really adds the cash, and he likes to do a bunch at a time so you have to wait...lol But it usually adds at least 250$ to the bill
