Need help now! Lt1 running hot at idle!
Hey guys I'm a newbie on this so any help will be highly appreciated . I recently bought a 1994 camaro z28 a4 , when I got the car it looked as if someone took a **** in the radiator so I flushed it best I could with a hose d's that five times and the car got better when the car is driven stays cool even tho I never drive it more ten ten mins due to it not being registered yet . When I run the car in my driveway it will warm up normally then will creep up to 235 and THEN the fans come on and will lower the temp a few degrees and will fluctuate like that untill driven or shut off also the car has a 160 stat help please lol :/

I believe it's on shoebox's site. I did it and it cost like $5 for the switch and like $3 for some wire. Essentially all your doing is tapping into the ground from the ECM to the fan relay and applying said ground when you flip the switch to turn on the fans. It took me about 20 mins to do. If it isn't on his site just google it. It's out there somewhere.

After I installed the switch before i changed the turn on temp in the tune I would flip the switch on at about 210 degrees and the temp would go back down and hang out just above 170. The weather here is crap today but I will try and PM you a picture of the install. For me it was just one wire as I only ran the switch for the low speed fan. There is a company out there that sells a pre manufactured setup that has switches for both fans.

Here is the picture off of the shoebox site. From there you run the wire through the firewall to your switch and then to ground. I've seen some that actually put LEDs in the line so they knew the switch was on. I didn't bother with that. I used a little rocker switch and mounted it on the left side of my console right next to where my knee usually is when I drive.

It's been quite awhile since I owned my '94 Z28, but I remember it running hot all the time. Even with the 160* stat. Do the fan switch and you'll be fine. Honestly, I just wired mine to where the fans came on as soon as the key turned to 'ON' and it really made a difference as far as how hot it got.
