Car acts like carbed engine on startup?
My 96 won't start up unless you give it a couple pumps of gas on start up. I just got the car yesterday but engine looks unmolested but does have 160k miles. Also the car gets a little warm in traffic and bogs down in 1st at WOT otherwise the car runs fine. Any ideas?

Also has "SES" and security light on. The SES probably because the converters are deleted and the security light because of the aftermarket radio but who knows?

Check the fuel pressure at startup. I'd be willing to bet the check valve is bad in the fuel pump. I'd bet you got zero or very low fuel pressure at startup. Also check FP while driving. That may be your problem as well.
You can also try cycling the key to the on position wait a few seconds then off then on again a few times then start it. If it fires probably the check valve. Replace the pump to fix it and do the trap door mod while your there.

First thing to do is scan to find out what the SES is about. Pumping the pedal does nothing but add a little air when your foot is down. There is no accelerator pump like a carb has.

i would suggest checking for crank signal and your car is fuel injected so pumping the pedal a few times would only be opening the throttle plate to allow more air flow if you dont get a signal it will not allow the pump to energize

also if the regulator took a dump that could also be a point to start which would explain when you pump it to start your adding more air which is known as clear flood mode to lean out the raw fuel mixture
