Valvecovers that clear shaftmount rockers w/ factory alt location?
Are there any out there other than the Cantons? I could swear I've seen this style out there that was notched to clear the alternator in the factory location:

I've heard of that, but in doing some reading the last couple days some people have had to remove much more material than others. That's another option too but I was just wondering if there happened to be another bolt-on solution that's not the Cantons.

i bought a set of these off ebay and my alternator still doesnt fit, although it is close. looks like i will have to grind some material off the back of it to get it to fit but it should need too much taken away.
they also doesnt clear my roller rockers either, so i will have to grind some material out of the inside of the covers.
it baffles me that GM didnt figure out a way to space the brackets and pulley system out about a half inch and there wouldnt be a problem....oh well

Honestly, I would get the Cantons. I have the Cantons and I love them. They look awesome and I was having a problem with the PCV system when I had the GMPP valve covers. I got the Cantons and have not had a problem with clearance or anything since.

So, yo make sure I am to understand this correctly, if you go with aftermarket valve covers there is some modification that you will be doing?
Do there is no direct bolt on and go from ANY manufacturer?

No problems at all with my Canton Valve Covers, fit perfect and never leaked a drop in ~3 years of daily driving.
Wish I could say the same about the fit on their oil pan. I think the problem with a lot of fabricated covers is that they are not as rigid as cast ones, and can warp easily during transporting/storage. Once its warped or tweaked a bit, the holes wont line up perfectly and it has a much higher chance of leaking.
