Summit 383 block 96-00 style. Works with LT1 style top end/distributor?
Guys I have the opportunity to score a nicely set up 383 for my 95 bird. Guy has over $6k into it, all brand new. Its the summit kit which is block #10243880. I'm just planning on using the bottom end only. Gonna swap my current heads and intake etc...Just want to make sure I wont have any surprises. My gut tells me it would work but I figured I would ask the experts.
Thanks on advance.

No it wont work without some major modifications. That is a vortec block. Like the late 90s 5.7 in suburbans and 1500s. The Lt1 is a reverse cooled engine (only sbc that's reverse cool), so you would need to convert the heads to sbc style which would defeat the purpose of using lt1 parts. Or convert the block to reverse cooling. Either of the two cost a decent chunk of change to get done I would guess.
To save you the enormous headache, I recommend forgetting about that block.
