Default lt1 th350

Ok so I have a lt1 with a th350. I was told I needed a new flywheel to match the th350 converter so ordered a flywheel which turns out to be a 168 tooth. The starter that im trying to use now I believe is off a 4.3 motor with diagonal bolt holes and it grinds that starter pretty bad even after shimming. I've searched and searched and only seen one pwrson say the starter from a 99 tahoe should work but wasnt sure....does anyone know what starter I can use?

Not sure why you changed flywheels unless you have the large pattern torque converter, Witch would be my guess, But I run a th350 with lt1 flywheel and starter.

I did this swap about 5 years ago and just getting back to it... i oreded all this stuff years ago when the swap was the thing to do and apparently got my info on the flywheel/starter from the wrong person...and yes I have the big bolt pattern converter and all that lined up right.

Which 4.3l do you think the starter is for? The L99 starter works perfectly on an LT1 and is basically just an older SBC starter whereas the LT1 got a gear reduction version. I would expect the 4.3l V6 starter to be the same as well seeing as it is just a 350 shorted two cylinders.

I suspect you are getting all kinds of confused here. You just need a starter meant for the flexplate you have. I think you have a 153 tooth starter on the 168 tooth flexplate. Buy a starter for a 168tooth gen 1 setup and you should be OK.

Being confused would be a understatement lol. We had a 99 tahoe sitting around so I took the starter out of it since it has the diagnol starter bolts and a 168 tooth flywheel...we got it to work after shimming it pretty good.
