As far as what?

I believe Karl was saying that most of the heavily boosted motors will have knocked the bores out a lil when he gets em back for rebuilds.

You never want distortion, but, block fill is rather racekar.

None is really acceptable but it appears to happen in higher power boost builds.

It would be nice to have a number to not cross.

I'm going to throw out a low number for the crossing. Around 700 crank hp for making the bores out of round. But even if going out of round I think the ring seal will be "ok" with these modern thin ring packages. My data is only from 3 customers.

1st in Sweden (Kent) with his 1000 hp F2 blower 383 LT1. He ran strong for 4 years and he tried running up to 7200 rpm on the engine dyno and lost compression and ended up with massive bore scuffing from piston side loading. I don't know if he was out of round but he scraped his cylinder walls to death.

2nd was Brian. His 1st rebuild showed out of round bores (which was probably from his 700+ hp). Then his 2nd rebuild had the same out of round bores. hummmmm.

3rd was from Anders Envall rebuild who's motor ran quite well for 6 years over in Sweden and was built by Autoshop Racing Engines, (Jeg's Engine master champion 2005)(1000hp F1R). His bores were out of round. All 3 of these motors are at .040" over now... The 2 Sweden motors have 1/2 fill of HardBlok now. Brian has no fill. He is going to be our best source of knowledge for the limits of the LT1. Thanks Brian for your engineering sense and detailed threads. I'm still learning.

Thanks a ton for hopping in Karl .

Makes me feel better about my half fill at (an estimated)~650hp.

I ran the first build hard and it never missed a beat except for the abnormal oil consumption. This Ellwein build is running very clean and I haven't seen the oil level move at all so far.

Quick Reply: 514HP/506TQ NA LTx. What will it do with boost?
