94 caprice engine swap.. HELP PLEASE
I have a original stock 1994 chevy caprice. With the 4.3 l99.. I found a 5.7 lt1 at junk yard for 500$. My problem is I keep hearing I would have to reflash computer to run this 5.7 I asked a PCM guy that does it he told me its a 94 don't bother it. Its not rewritable. So what do I do. buy new computer that goes to 5.7 or find one out a 5.7 caprice. What all do I need to do. Because I know the gear ratios are different to from the l99 caprice and 5.7 caprice.. WHATS THE BEST WAY TO GO HELP PLEASE.

What is the donor?
You got the injectors too right?
The civilian L99 cars usually got the 7.5" axle which a stock LT1 can break, if that is what your car has consider going back for the donor axle and driveshaft if it was a sedan, can talk more on that once you answer the what was the donor question.
The L99 tranny had a smaller boost valve and some other small weaknesses, a Transgo kit can help.
The stock L99 fuel pump is smaller capacity than LT1 but should still feed a stock LT1.
This really is pretty straight forward.
Been a long time and the info isn't coming to me as spontaneously as I hoped, ask questions and I will try and answer them quickly.

I basically want to build this car over time. What you think I need to start with. Before going with lt1 .. What would be best options to get a faster car...
