Default fastest lt1

i wondering whats the fastest you can get or have gotten an lt1 to go. but im talking lt1 350 or 355 which most of us have done no stroker no nitrous no supercharger i mean just motor with your typical heads and cam, stall or m6, ect.
my personal best has been 11.7 with the le2 setup and complementing components.

Bone Stock I ran the car way back in 97 when it was new and 9.01 @ 77mph 1.77 60ft., through an m6.LOL. We are talking some numbers there man. HAHA. I did some minor bolt-ons and never ran at the track then, just street raced up here back in the day. But Black Sunshine is being risen from the dead and will be back soon....

Russ had an Ai package that went 11.2x with issues. 355 sized.
There is no reason why mid to lower 10s are out of the question.

That is an impressive time. I am considering the LE2 package, what other components did you have installed? What injector size too, and did you use DR's or slicks? Any RWHP #s or flow #s?

8.9@152 I believe is the fastest. But I also think it's a poweradder car.

Both Joe O's and Big Rick's cars are N/A I THINK. Joe O ran 9.36@143. Big Rick ran 9.38@149. There are a few in the 9.4s as well.

That ET list is old as hell. Rick's car has a turbo and it has ran 8.08@172 as a best. Joe Overton is the fastest NA, your right on that time slip. Rick never had a NA set up in his car. It did have a Stroker/N20 set up that was in the mid 9s for a while. No LT1 has broken 8s NA, only two to break 8s are Rick's car and Sikora's YSi car.

What does it take to get a 93-97 in the 10's N/A without a solid roller and using the stock computer?

95Bird has gone 10.39 at 132 with a 355 LT1 NA, with ported stock heads and a solid roller around 255 at .050" and stock ECM.

High 10's would be probably be easiest with a 383, 11/1, largish hydraulic roller (~240 at .050"), AFR 210's, heavily ported intake, etc.

To take advantage of a hyd roller setup do you have to rev high?

Yup... that is 100% correct..... Several came close to doing it but then went on to different setups or LS1's.....

George Baxter, Jay Billingsley, Madman, Dave Diluca..... All ran 9.0's or 9.1's.... then stopped their LT1 exploits....

I hope to be the third LT1 to ever do it..... god willing

Quite the opposite, actually. With a hyd roller, you need to keep the rev's down. With a properly set up hyd roller valvetrain, you can squeeze out 6800, but most don't go over 6200.

That was so many years ago too that all those cars ran, the headers from jay's old car are on mine now or will be shortly. Baxter's car is in California now, SBC, Jay's car now belongs to mad man, also a SBC, the mad man Formula I belive Ricky at NX now owns the chasis. I dont think its because the LT1 is not capable of making the power, the only guys willing to invest the scratch to build an Lt1 are the guys who have owned them for a while, not a whole lot of new blood comming in to this any more. I think Sikoras car could have made a lot more power if it had the top end Rick has/had on a Lt1 set up. Would have also been nice to see Rob Cowling and Brady go 8s with their set ups.

Yeah that's for sure... I'll tell you what Bizz, it's nice to see another guy so interested in LT1's like I am... I kinda see myself as an LT1 historian in a way kinda like you.... the LT1 can make as much power as you want it to like anything else.. you just have to be willing to do what others have not.... and use techniques maybe not explored before... I had the chance to give the LT1 up... I had money down on a Dart SBC block and actually called my engine builder up and told him to start machining one of three LT1 blocks I had sitting at his shop.. He was like "WHAT???"... I then explained to him why I want to work with what I have. I bought this car new and I love LT1's... So many people sold them out when the LS1 came out. Is the LS1 a better motor? Of course it is.... But I guarantee there will be a crowd around THIS LT1 when I run 8's at my local track and pop the hood and there is an opti on the front with reverse cooled LT4 heads... cuz anyone can build an SBC to run whatever they want. I want to make history and be one of only three to run the number... Rob Cowlings would have done it. He needed track prep and a new converter.... But he's going jr dragster racing and doesn't have the time anymore. we talked the other day and he just can't find the time....
Hell I'm thinking if I run in the 8's it's a guaranteed magazine article.... Sikora's made it in GMHTP, so has Big Rick..... hopefully they have my 3 pages reserved..

You really need to rev the solid roller to 7000+ rpm to take advantage of it. Otherwise, stick with hyd. If your goal is 10.90, then stick with hyd.
