Do you mean an F-bod? If so, you can drop the pan while the engine remains in the car. You'll have to remove the front portion of the exhaust system, the starter, the oil level sensor, and the bolts from the engine mounts. Loosen the tranny mount bolt, and carefully jack the engine up using a jack and 2x4 under the crank pulley.

You might have to rotate the crank to get the throws of the forward cylinders up, and out of the way, so the pan will clear them, while sliding over the crossmember. It's close, but will clear.

lol i have good expirence on this.

1st of all, if you have a engine hoist use that, but if not i just used a block of wood (2x4) and jacked up the motor bout half an inch on the crankshaft hub. Also take off your strut tower bar 1st.

2. Then take out motor mounts.
3. Jack up engine as far as you can go, bout 4-6 inches
4. Undo the 6 K member bolts and drop then down 2-3 inches. DO NOT take the bolts all the way off, just enough for about 2-3 inches.,
5. Take off starter and move it out of way.
6. Undo oil pan bolts
7. remove oil sensor
8. drop pan. May have to do some wiggling.
9. repeat from 9-1.

When lowering the engine back down and getting the motor mount bolts in, lower the jack a little bit till you see the holes line up with the mount. USe flash light if ya can. Then if you cant put the bolt in by hand use a air tool wrench and screw it in. It will go in trust me.

I Had to drop my pan 3 times in 2 weeks. Wasnt fun. Last time i dropped the pan in about 30-45 min.

Yep, I just got through doing this after the damn pick-up fell off the oil pump!

It's a pain, but was absolutely do able. I jacked up by the balancer (don't worry, it's safe) and a jack under the trans for a little extra. Yes, rotating the motor properly is the trick!

Do yourself a favor and get the Felpro 1-piece enforced gasket. You can't screw it up...
