I heard that on the ls1 cars the coolant temp gauges aren't accurate. And I'm pretty sure the tachs aren't accurate because my shift light comes on at 6400 in my 00 ss but the tach doesn't always show that. I'm not a fan of gauges being every where when their not needed, but I do want to protect my investment. Thanks for the help.

agreed, they are pretty accurate, the tachs are usually no more than 100-200rpm off, I like having a redundant set of gauges just to be safe.

BRETTINATOR thanks for the reply and I like the camaro. Hoping mine will put 430+ to the wheels. Kinda wish I had went a little more aggressive on the heads and cam but oh well it should still be fun.

That's all I have is a light. Since it's wired to the tach signal anyway, you'll see the light instead of the needle anyway. 99 times out of 100 you probably wouldn't even notice the needle being behind if you have the light.

Comparing to my scanmaster, the tach is dead on at upper RPM's (couple hundred high at idle), speedo is within 1mph, volts is fine, but the temp gauge is way off. At the 210 mark on the guage my coolant temp sensor reads over 230 degrees.

This is because your gauge shows temperature at the head and the PCM reads temperature at the waterpump. Probably very accurate.

Well that explains why I was told my temp gauge isn't accurate on my 00 ss.

You dont want to make it look "ricey" with guages. All i have also is just a shift light mounted on the dash next to d/s pillar

No "ricey" crap for me. I plan on hiding the light, any suggestion? Pics would be good also.

I've seen people hide their lights in the little circular vent on the a pillar.

That's where I was thinking or in the center a/c vent.
