Pinion seal leaking..questions
Has anyone ever had their pinion seal in the rear leak on them? If so...was it hard to replace? Do you have to pull the gears and carrier out or can you do it without doing that? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you would have to uncap the reat u joint from the rear yoke, mark the pinion nut and the pinion shaft. then get a tq wrench and see how much tw is needed until you can start spinning the tires with the pinion. mark that down as that is gonna be needed later. unbolt the pinion nut, take yoke off, then you will be able to pry out the old seal.
reassembly is the reverse of above. when reassembling, make sure you grease the rim of the old seal so itll slide in better. use a soft rubber hammer to tap it into the housing. when putting the pinion nut on, make sure not to overcrush the crush sleeve. use the tq number from earlier, and when torquing the nut back on, make sure you turn the nut while turning the yoke with your hand. do this until your marks match up again and youre set.
