350rwhp with a hotcam possible?
basically id like to hit 350rwhp on stock heads... with the hotcam if possible for various reasons. Ive seen quite a few people claiming well under and well over this number. Im guessing the people that are over 350 have headwork. anyway im just wondering what it takes, or if its possible. I have all the basic supporting mods i believe: LTs, exhaust/cutout, CAI, LT4KM, etc.
I figure on getting an e-water pump to help out too, but this is all research im doing way in advance... dont have the $ yet.
thanks in advance.

its a 95, M6 . . . seems to be a strong one too, ive run even with a lid/catback LS1 from a roll, and also tied an auto C5 vette at the track (within .001). best track time so far is a 13.6 at 104.5.
Im sure itll be tough, I was just wondering if maybe stronger valvesprings, 1.7rrs, or something of that nature would be enough to get me there.

You will need a completely new valvetrain if you want to run a Hotcam and look for 350hp, if its possible. Its sounds valid, but you never know...
Obviously an easier task with an M6.
If you got a New Valvetrain like this =
-Pro Mag Rockers
-Roller Lifters
-Dual Valve Springs
-New Pushrods/Guideplates
That should be around 30 hp, give or take not counting the HP from the cam,
Why do you want a Hotcam anyways? If I bought all that,
^ I would want something more aggressive than a Hotcam.

I have a 95 m6 with a LT4 Hotcam, stock heads and stock valves, 1.6 pro mags, ele-water pump, mids and full custom exhaust, and 4.10s. And I make 346 RWHP and 355 RWTQ, running 12.69 @ 112.30 W/ 2.016 60' on street tires.

and A hotcam isnt very aggressive Joelius. you can go bigger with all those goodies. I would suggest going with some very good long tube headers. You should be close then.

Yes it can be done and all of the above sounds correct, full bolt ons should get you there... are you looking for daily drivability from the cam? You can pull off a bigger cam, I have heard good reviews from cam only cc305/cc306 and even the cc503 and all of those will get you 350 rwhp and still remain relatively drivable. A custom cam also sounds very tempting in your situation.... they blow off the shelf cams out of the water. Talk to a shop you trust and is reputable and tell them what you have, plan on doing, and what your goals are, and they will help you with a custom grind.... also are you looking to go cam only???

i really have no particular reason for wanting 350rwhp, I just thought that was a good number to shoot for. Its my goal to make as much hp as possible with a smaller cam because I want my engine to last. I dont want to make crazy horsepower for fear of my 10 bolt, and i dont want to spin crazy rpms either. Its not a daily driver, its a weekend car. but i have fun with it, and i want it to hold up to all the times i cant resist putting my foot down. A lopey idle and the ability to walk bolt-on LS1s is what i would like. (12.8s in the quarter would be nice) I dont want any more than that out of this car. Ill build a drag car if i wanna go faster.

I have personally seen (hotcam kit) cars go 12.80's with LT's a borla catback and a CAI....should have no problem acheiving that with a decent tune.... obviously it depends on where you live (elevation) the track temp etc...

full boltons including EWP with the hot cam should get you there, easier in your case as your M6.
I am actually looking at that number with my setup, still didnt Dyno it not took it to the track, my gool is to reach really low 12's with this setup, I will be runing 4.10's as well, 353ci fresh motor here, milled and cleaned heads, and I will go ripping **** out of the car too.

if you feel comfortable with it run triple springs with it to acheive a little more lift. compared to some of the other cams out there the hotcam is kind of a low lifting cam. and i think the max lift anyone has achieved on lt1 heads is about .600". so its just whatever you feel comfortable with to make the power.
