Default Whos Opti-spark Should I Go With

IM looking to get a new optispark I keep breaking apart the rotor in the AC Delco ones that have been put on. Whos distributor should I go with Accel or MSD?

how many rpms are you running? im not sure if the accel can handle a lot of rpms but i do know the dynaspark can handle up to 6800 reliably i am sure the msd is similar so i would pick between either of them

i have the dynaspark and it hasn't given me any problems in 30,000 miles so far

Another vote for the dynaspark. I have one with 9k miles and consistently run it up to 6800 with no problems.

The MSD is rated to 10k rpm. Been very happy with my MSD.
I've heard the Accel is just a rebadged Ac Delco unit or something like that, so probably not the best idea, if you destroy factory optis.

Yes get the whole MSD unit. Don't do just the cap and rotor, I think by trying to bandage my stock opti with the cap and rotor it lasted a whole 6 months, 5 of which the car didn't get driven much.

I just use a stock GM opti with riveted rotor contact. (drill out plastic rivets and install aluminum rivets). Mine is going on 2+ years like this and I've seen 7,650 rpm on the datalogs.

WOW! I just looked at the pics of your car, and wow! That is awesome
Your car is beautiful! Great job! I wish I had the time and the funds to do that with my car!

One thing you want to check with the MSD though, make sure the rotor screw is tight, you have to pull the cap off anyway to install the gasket, so check to make sure.

thats the only issue I have heard of MSD opti's so far, a few people have had the rotor come loose, fall off. And thats only happened to a few people, just double check.
