i had a B&M short throw in my 97 t/a. I missed 3rd at first but after i got used to it i really liked it. Way different than stock. But a few of my friends have it too and they dont like it. So i guess its just an opinion thing. good luck on finding one.

I have a B&M and love it. I also have an MBA (Mallory Billet Aluminum) shifter ball which lowers the ball about an inch which also shortens the throw.

BUT:

I hear the Pro 5.0 and a Lou's short stick is the hot ticket.

I have never heard anyone say they did not like a pro 5.0.

I have the B&M shifter, also, for about 10 years. Still just as good as day 1. Very firm shifts and stout piece.

the Pro 5.0 is very similar - so it should be just as good.

Using the SLP short throw here, with a short *** stainless stick from tnamotorsports. A B&M t handle tops it off, the shifter throws are really quick and to hit 3rd you kinda just bang the stick forward, been using this setup for over 2 years and I love it.

I must have missed 3rd 5 times with the stock shifter and also would go into 4th instead of 6th often, the stock shifter was one of the worst ones I've ever shifted. The stock shifter in the 86 Camaro I used to have was perfect, how did GM get the 4th gen shifter so wrong?

i have the hurst on mine as well..and i just bought the short stick..but haven't put it on yet..so hopefully it works out good. had a hurst on one of my mustangs and it was nice and smooth so i bought one for the ss.

never have really liked the pro 5.0s they seem a lil too rough to me..but to each their own

just bought a hurst billet plus with a ws6 short stick, people have their preferences but generally the b&m, 5.0, and Hurst BP have few complaints, people seem generally happy with them. my shipment was delayed but the general consensus seems to favor a short shifter.

Pro 5.0 is the best. Especially with a short stick combo.

Stock shifter sucks, IMO. Its very imprecise and rubbery, and throw is way too long. Plus it isn't equipped with stop bolts, to help protect the trans and allow the driver to feel the end of the travel in each gear.
