Default Gut Cat?

is it better to gut my cat on a stock rebuilt engine it's a 94Z A4 wtih one cat. will it mess up my O2 readings? i got the LM1 on my car. will i have any back pressure if i cut it off? or should i buy a catco from summit for 50 bucks and have it welded on there. i have the stock manifolds on there. i'm not planning on doing any performance yet. what do you guys think.

I have a 93Z that I cut the top off the cat, cleaned it out and welded a 3" pipe through it ,then I welded the top back on . From the bottom it looks stock. It depends where you live if your car has to be emission tested. The o2 reading on mine are fine. You will still have some back presure with a muffler.

i don't have to worry about emissions where i live so i will put a strait pipe. did it affect your torque? i heard it affects torque down low.

The torque difference will not be noticeable. I wouldn't mess with the stock cat. Especially cause many people are looking for them that are not gutted. I sold mine for $50. BTW, I have that catco brand new for sale $40. PM me.

O2 sensors are before the cat. Hollowed out my cat and then just decided to cut it off and run straight pipe. Good for non emissions county.

What are you so worried about back pressure for?

Your cars gonna sound like absolute **** if you take the cat off and run a LM1...

Some people like the insane rasp from LM no cats. I personally think it doesn't even sound like a car when you hear how raspy it is.
