Default Accel Opti Or stock Gm vented opti ?'s

I am almost done with my build and the only thing i have left are injectors and opti i was looking at the accel opti but i dunno about that i am nervous. I would hate to have to yank the accel off only after a short period of use. Just wondering if yall think i should go back with gm or accell? Thanks for your input

MSD. Trust me you will love it. But if I had to choose I would go with the GMPP opti, it and the Accel are basically the same thing with the same problems, at least the GMPP is cheaper

Go make a seach on z28.com about the ACCEL OPTI...

You will find that the accel is one of the worst opti. They dont even come with a center bearing but with a bushing

There is 2 major post that explain how the accel unit failed to the task in very short amount of time.

I run my stock opti with a MSD cap/rotor(12 years now) and it works flawlessly.People tend to forget that you need to chnage the cap/rotor kit once in a while(for me every 5 years).

When im gonna change its gonna be the best opti on the market, the DYNASPARK

my 6AL just destroyed my AC Delco Opti, it had 400 miles on it. If you are going to run a MSD box use a aftermarket opti like a dynaspark or a MSD.

MSD all the way. I know it's pricey, but way better than replacing like 2 or more down the road. If I only had a few bucks thou go with GM. Summit has them about $310.

The first Accel opti I got had a warped pulse wheel that barely rubbed the optical sensor, it was never istalled. I sent it to Accel and they sent me a replacement. The second was much better. It also had a ball bearing and not the bushing, cant explain why.

The accel opti uses the exact same base plate, pulse wheel, drive shaft, sensor, dust shield as the GM opti. I really dont think the bushing issue is anything to sweat since tere is no real load being applied to it, plus it wont rust.

It appears that the Accel cap and rotor are much more robust than the GM.
I think the unit is getting a bad rap by many who have never used it. Even GM ones screw up right out of the box. When you start comparing them you quickly see they are 90% the same down to the numbers.
