Default ugh...these spark plugs

I had hell getting all the plugs changed today...actually didnt get all of them. Six new and two old.

My delimma is getting the 2 back two on the passanger side out.

I couldnt get my 3/4 plug socket on it, I have longtube headers, unscrewed the header bolts pulling them out as far as the threads would let me without removing the bolts completely. I jacked the car up and got underneath it...pushing the headers out to get as much space as possible...no luck.

...even took the rubber boot out of the plug socket and it to gave me another 1/8in:-)...still short of sliding on...knowing that the fun part is getting it off once Ive starting turning the plug out

At the end of the day...2 old plugs remain...any tricks out there.

I dunno man wish I could help, I haven't had stock manifolds for about 6 years now. But I can tell you one thing, you better improvise something cause it's not the greatest thing leaving those two bum plugs in there like that

I have the slp socket, that seems to help me get them done.
With my BBK shorties it still takes forever, 8hrs. to do plugs and wires.

What kind of longtubes do you have?

I use a plug socket with a 3/4" wrench to turn the socket. Are you using a ratchet? A ratchet won't clear some tubes. Some more information would help.

Holy **** dude..

I had Pace Setter LT's on mine.. I used the Plug Socket and a 3/4" Wrench..I had 8 Plugs changed in 35 minutes.. and that's no bullshit, I got witnesses..

Another reason I will be glad to go to my LS Engine..

Yeah had to use a 3/4 wrench on just about all of them...could only use a rachet on one or two. They are dynotech longtubes.

Did you get the last 2 out yet? You may have to just use a wrench to break em lose then take em out by hand. Order the slp socket that camar0corey mentioned for next time, or get shorty plugs, I'm thinking Autolite 104 is the shorty, maybe someone will chime in if I'm incorrect.

I have a feeling the BBK shorties are what makes them take forever for me, they are probably the worst headers to have to do plug changes with.

Oh well soon there will be longtubes in there. When they get here......

I had issues with the front passenger side plugs with my SLP shorties. The rest were easy. It seemed the hard metal tubing that went to my heater core would get in the way. (I am ripping that crap out when I am swapping motors since no more heater for me)

get a cheapo spark plug socket from a parts store, cut off about 1.5 inches off the end, drill out the 3/8 square, then you have a spark plug tool for Long Tubes.

that should help out alot
