Default Oil pressure questions

I have a freshly built 383 recently installed into my car. The motor has just been put into the car and the guy was going over his final checks and discovered that the heads were getting just a little bit of oil. The bottom end seems to be getting enough but not the top. The oil pressure goes from about 50 psi to about 10 psi when it warms up. Does anyone know what could be causing this. The engine serioulsy has zero miles just run time.

Warm @ idle the LT1 only makes around 15psi. So yours is low even by that logic. My guess is a problem with the push rods or lifters.

I have brand new pushrods but used lifters. The lifters also came out of an LS1 but that doesnt matter I thought. Should i just buy some new lifters and see if that works.

Pickup, oil pump just not working right, it sadly could be quite a few things :\ We'll see what others think when the day moves on some more. No one has even woken up yet lol

Put a magnet to it, see if it collects a lot of metallic stuff. A new motor is going to make metal shavings anyways though, that's just how it goes. You're supposed to change the oil after like an hour of running, then another hour, then 3 hours, then after a some amount of miles. Then after like 300 miles start brining it up to it's fill RPM. This is old school info, so I don't know if people adhere to it anymore.

Good luck with your oil pressure problem, I fear low oil pressure. My first motor hit 5 psi, then bamn went my motor. My second was a 383, then right at startup, I had good oil pressure, then few minutes later 0 psi, then boom went my stroker. Don't drive it till you have good oil pressure, and hopefully the motor isn't ran long enough to score any bearings. Keep up posted
