Default Strange Noise From Motor...cant Figure Out What It Could Be!!!

when i start my car (97 z28 m6) in the morning (or after the car sits for an hour or so after being driven) theres this real loud squeeky sound coming from the passenger side of the motor.as i start driving, the higher the rpms are at, the louder the squeek gets. after 10-15 minutes of driving the squeek goes away..what the hell could this be. alternator..power steering pump, pulleys???? im lost..

Upon startup when its making the noise spray a little WD40 on both sides of the belt while its running and see if it goes away...if it does, then get a new belt. If it don't, then try spraying a little on the idler pulley, could be a bearing in it gone bad... It will need replacing as the WD40 wont keep it away very long.

Another old trick if you don't have any WD40 is grab a bar of soap and let it rub against the belt while its running...both sides.

I'd much rather he rubs soap on it than sprays WD-40 on it. Might as well spray WD-40 on squeaky brakes too lol Items that rely on friction don't work well with lubricants. I found that out the hard way when I was 10 and sprayed the brakes on my bike >_>
