Default cam specs question

Hey guys, I've been looking around for awhile to get a cam done and I've gotten a recommendation from cam motion. I dont think they'd mind if I posted the specs since I'm not telling which lobes they're using. Here's what they suggest:

231/238 @ .50, .570/.582 lift, 112 LSA

That seems like alot of duration to me for my 6300 RPM shiftpoint, of course I
don't really know jack **** about cams. What do you guys think? The application is street only with a 6300RPM shiftpoint, but ***** to the wall besides that.

I was recommended a similar cam for my 383, a bit more lift though

For a 350-355, it is, especially with LE2 heads. If you only want to shift at 6,300, stick with something in the CC503 range.

Those specs are fairly close to the GM847 cam, and they like to rev higher then 6300RPMs. Also, with 1.6 rockers you'll be over 600 lift so your really pushing the limits on the beehive springs. If you go with that cam, change out the springs! And I'd say you would want at the least a 3600 stall.

So I agree with Fury and say go a bit smaller. You'll have more vacuum and better street manners.

Patrick G spec'd a cam for me (236/242 .624/.576 110+4). That's bigger, obviously, then the one you have. I say do it. If you stroke it later, the rpm band will go down a bit. Damn street manners. Go all out!
