LS1 Airlid Swap -- TRACK RESULTS!!!
A few of you no doubt read the thread about Ele-Blue95's recent swap from a K&N CAI to an LS1-style airlid.
We only got five runs in, then we got rained out. The Density Altitude was abyssmal: 2915 ft.
All runs were performed on street tires due to the threat of rain. Engine coolant temp was controlled at 180-185* with an EWP and manual fan switch. The car was allowed a 15 minute cooldown between intakes.
Here are his runs with the LS1 swap, I'm in the right lane on the middle slip. His Number is 17 or "Blue":
Here are his runs AFTER a cooldown and swapping to the K&N CAI:
You guys tell us what you think. I think that it's a nice little difference that will only increase with a lower DA and a ram air system.

Hey guys. I tried to make the runs as close as i could. The car spun pretty bad in first and the start of second, with the lid i got third to just break loose. The temps all stayed about the same. Shifted at the same RPM (all runs). Next week I will put the DRs on it and see what it will do. I will do a dyno test in a few weeks. So we will know 100% what the gain is.

If anyone is wondering Y the times in my sig are better than what im running at the start of the thread. Im running a S60 with true-trak and 3.73 gears and steel drive shaft. VS. the stock 10 bolt with 4.10s and alum driveshaft. Those times are also during the winter vs extremely hot summer.

I wrote down the numbers on a paper to make it easier to look at side by side... I also averaged the runs in the two columns on the right. Seeing as how you were spinning alot this probably isn't a great comparison. It doesn't seem like there's a HUGE difference. Looks like you over all gained close to 1 MPH and 1/10 of a second. Would like to see the back to back dyno runs....

Hey merv, dont you have a back to back dyno with and without? I'm curious to see the air fuel difference back to back.

Cool dude, looks like there could be a solid 1 mph difference there. Definitely thinking about doing this now lol
Can I ask, how much were the parts and how long did the install take you?

Well ANY gain is a gain, but as I suspected it is not a seat of that pants thriller like many said.
Block the heat off the radiator(with sheetmetal) and re-test with the lid. As I stated in the other post, the gains will get much better if this is done.
Super bracket car, make some dollas with that baby.
