To spray, or not to spray?
I can't decide, I have $1300 to spend on my car this winter. Do I go with the LT4 hotcam kit and a used nitrous kit, or a CC503 setup with all the best valvetrain parts? My Z has 132,000 miles on it and still runs strong, but 13 years is still a long time and thats a lot of miles. Parts dont last forever.
Thanks for your help

With $1300 you can get a good nitrous system with all the goodies and still have the money for a cam and some valve train parts. Labor different story, but I would go nitrous, just use it in moderation till you can forge the bottom end then your golden.

Hmm..both?
CC306 $150 used
Pro Mags - $175 used
Crane Spring Kit $150 new
One Peice push rods - $80 new
I dont see the $1300, its more like $450 for the cam and you've got plenty for a nitrous setup afterwards.

i wouldn't get any cam setup for the factory ported heads... like hot cam, 503, 305, etc.
LT1 factory ported heads =
if your not going to get your heads worked on, i say spray it . but the factory heads do have alot of potential if you get them ported by somebody like Lloyd Elliot or someone simular.

Not to mention a set of ported lt1 castings from a reputable porter are amazing price/performance parts.
With where he is now if I was him I would save up some more to have his heads ported, a custom cam ground for the heads, the supporting mods, and then install it all at once. Then just a a mail order tune to hold him over until he is finished with nitrous or w/e and can do a dyno tune.

now i got another choice. i found someone selling a supercharger kit for about $1000. i know LT1's have high compression, but can i still make a good reliable car out of a supercharged LT1?
