Default Drivetrain Problem??

Automatic 95Z28... Sorry if my description is vague but im not sure how to describe the problem. Any time the car is under load (too much gas from a stop or too much gas around a turn) there is an abnormal vibration that sounds almost like a growl or thud. It feels almost like the wheels are hoping or slipping a little bit but the tires have always spun nice and smoothly. At first i though it was a problem with the drive shaft or rear end. So recently i have replaced both u joints, tranny mount (which seemed to help, but only a very small amount), and changed the rear end fluid (gears looked fine). The thud also seems to happen when the car shifts. The car has bolt-ons and a recently stock rebuilt tranny with a shift kit (around 5k miles). The sound/vibration first made its self apparent when i threw on my friends ET streets and we thought the sound was just the tires trying to spin and hoping a little bit. But since i put the normal tires back on it just keeps getting worse. Could this be the rear end clutches starting to give out or maybe a problem with the trans?

Also another question. Should there be any play in the output shaft of the trans? There wasn't much about the same as my friends 700r4 but its still making me a little nervous.

There will be some play in the output shaft without the yoke in it and a tiny amount with the yoke in it probably nothing you could feel. I dont know what to tell you on he thud it could be the trans slipping possibly, But without actually feeling it that would be hard to say. I would suggest you drop the pan like you did the rear end and check what is in the trans. Also on the rear end if the clutch in the posi is going bad and one wheel spins faster than the other you can get a shudder vibration from it,
I wis I could give you more info but sometime net diag just isnt possible, You might also consider dropping by a trans shop and have them drive it and see what they think.
