Thumbs down Code 84, 3-2 Control Solenoid Circuit

A4, '94 T/A

3-2 Control Solenoid Circuit (automatic transmission)

My car started throwing this code. It's untuned (ordered a tune over the weekend), deleted A/C and emissions stuff. I hope the trans isn't busted

It seems to shift okay. The fluid and filter was never changed as far as I know. If I do get around to changing it, I thought about getting a shift kit. In a year or two I'll probably get the thing built anyway so IDK.

Thanks!

Does anybody have any input on this. I would like to know more about code 84. Currently my T-56 is throwing this code. Yes a T-56 is a manual transmission.

84

Skip shift solenoid circuit (manual transmission)
3-2 Control Solenoid Circuit (automatic transmission)

That is off of shbox.com. Hmmm, are the solenoids bad? How hard are they to replace?

Resurrecting this thread- having the same issue on a stock 94 auto with 1850-2000 mild stall. Didn't see an answer so I'm running it past the crowd again.

I was about to buy a pair of solenoids 1-2 & 3-4 but I saw on the screen at Advance that there is a 3-2 solenoid and it's shaped different from the other 1-2 & 2-3. Is there also a 4-3 & 2-1 solenoid? I'd hate to buy something I don't need and not fix my problem... or miss an opportunity to do something while I had the opportunity.

I know little about automatic transmissions, aside from old TH125s. I can swap out solenoids, etc. but I leave most internal trans work to trans experts. Engines yes, transmissions no.

Wanting to fix it today if possible...

first thing you guys need to do is get a service manual and follow the diag procedure for it. a wiring diagram is a must also. its possible its a solenoid, wiring, and possibly computer issue. hit up one of your local gm dealers and see if they can pull a book and make a copy of the procedure for you we do it often for people. if you dont feel like doing it take it to a shop

Well, I do know that the solenoid should be at 9-14 Ω. If the solenoid is good, I can trace its wires through the harness inside the trans for a break/short. The connector plug on the outside looks good; no damaged pins or corrosion. I'm hoping it'll just be a solenoid replacement and roll on...

Was just wondering if anybody had personally worked this issue and had any advice on what else would be wise to take care of at the same time. Though the shop manual's flowchart would be good. Thanks for posting it up.

I'm not going to post the trouble shooting procedures since they usually involve a tech 1.
