I don't want to be a downer but thats the same thing as putting a filter on the end of your throttle body. Except you probably paid $150 more.

Don't take it wrong it's a cool idea and all but it's not functional. LT1's don't take in air from the front air dam. They take it from the fender well so basically you will be sucking in all that hot air under the hood which is what a CAI is NOT supposed to do.

This is my setup and it did improve my 1/4 mile .1 or .2 if I remember right. I can't find my time slips right now.

if you had an ultraZ hood that FIPK would be great.

if it wouldve fit under the front of the cowl, you couldve done a lid for the same price as the FIPK.

I'm interested in how you got your IAT sensor set up, did you just pull it from the intake elbow and stick in the new bellow?

as a suggestion, if you dont care much about the radiator cover, you can cut some of it out and slide some rubber around the edges to smooth them out so air can be fed from the bottom of the filter. then add FTRA later on to scoop it up there.

Definitely unique, but I agree that a lid setup would probably be better for hp. If you put it on the dyno to judge gains, make sure the hood is closed.

Very clean install!

i would hurry and cut a hole in the shroud for sure cause at this point you are getting no true cool air, better yet if you build one from thin aluminum cut a hole the size of the filter polish it up,i think that woold look good and perform pretty well......

The LS1 lid gains on an LT1 have been debated here before. Actual dragstrip testing with a NON ws6 style hood netted little or no gains. Do a search.

IMO aint worth the trouble.

BUT, his setup would work with a sheetmetal box that sealed to the hood and was open on the front to get air from the hoodlatch area.

One of the reasons he moved it was to make a nice engine bay mount point for the msd 6AL, not just that he wanted the ls1 intake for a gain of power. I believe its pretty sweet and can be made to be functional. Sucking air thru the fenderwell sucks in the rain it tends to get wet its just easier with a setup like this.
