Default 383 Build.... Getting Closer!

Ok so as a few of you guys may know, I am currently building a 383 Stroker for my 94 Formula. And I had made a thread last year asking what kind of setup, I should go with. Well for those of you wondering what I'm planning on doing, this is what I'm doing..

To Start with.....

350 LT1 Block from a 95 Trans Am
LT1 heads from a 95 Corvette (*same as F-Body heads)casting #'s 10207643

Block has been bored .030" over, Decked, magnafluxed, and new cam brgs. installed.

I have yet to have the align bore done and splayed mains, but the block is going back into the shop this week for that to be done. (Will post pics ASAP) I hadn't planned on the splayed mains, but just figured it would be better to go ahead and do it while I had the chance. So can't wait....
The main caps will be Eagle 4340 Forged Or a Billet Type Splayed mains with ARP bolts.

The crank is also an Eagle 4340 Forged Steel crankshaft with a 3.75" stroke.

The rods are 4130 Forged steel 5.7" Manley H-Beam Rods With ARP Bolts

The Pistons are Speed Pro Powerforged pistons with coated side skirts that yield 11.55:1 Compression w/ 58 cc heads. I plan on having around 11.8:1 since I'll be going with the stock LT1 heads milled down to be sure they are straight.

The Rings are still up for grabs.... Not sure what type yet!!!
The brgs. are Clevite brgs.
ALL bolts will be ARP Bolts and Studs.....
1.6" Roller Rockers, Hydra-rev kit
Canton Oil pan and Valve Covers
MSD Opti and FULL MSD Ignition....
42lb SVO Green Top Ford Racing Injectors
58MM Holley TB
New Water Pump (already have)
YANK SS3600 Stall Converter Trans Cooler and Deep Pan!
Already have Full Exhaust, CAI, And 3.42's)
MORE Suspension and Cage will be installed later in the season!
Moser 9" coming next winter! Gears?? (somewhere around 3:73's)

And the H/C/I will be redone by Lloyd Elliott. I am going to be using a LE2 Head package, Either a LE2 or LE3 Camshaft and then have the stock LT1 Intake to be Port-matched to the Heads.

This is going to be the extent of my build for now, but have already made a list of other mods for the car..... Just wanted to shed some info on the setup... Hope you like what I'm planning on building for my car.

James

Thanks... I hope it runs strong when it's all done. To be honest as much money as I'll have in it, It Better.
I keep looking at the pictures and talking with my builder every time he calls and when I go to pay him. And it just makes me in a big hurry to get it done. I ALMOST want to get a 2nd job to help build it faster.
But it'll be worth it when it gets done.

Gonna try to have some pics up next weekend, at the latest, of the splayed mains.
I have to go out there Sunday, but I'm not sure when the engine will be back from the machine shop, so pics might not be posted till next weekend....

Here are a few pics of my engine with the Splayed billet caps and Manley 4130 Forged rods after getting it back from the machine shop a few days ago. Starting to come together guys!
Sending in the Eagle Crank and the entire rotating assembly to be balanced next week. I'm waiting on the crank to come in now! Then gonna start putting it together. I should have it done in less than a month. Can't wait.

And before someone asks... The paint on the engine was fine until the machine shop got a hold of it, So I'm going to paint it over again (RED) and I may spray a clear coat over it as well.....

I would recommend a windage tray. Does the canton pan have one?

Miloden makes extended main cap bolts so you can use your stock tray.

The Canton should have a windage and crank scraper as I have a canton road race 7qt on mine and it has both. The stock windage won't work on a 383 unless it's bent up pretty good.

I would highly reccomend a good oil pan and pump. It'll cost a little more now, but save you alot down the road. Also the one thing I regret is not putting in ARP headstuds, I went with there bolts instead

....ah it works fine with NO modifications to the tray itself. Just put 1/8" washers between the stock studs and tray...or get the Miloden extended studs.

If the Canton has a tray...cool.
