I need help! Please read!
I have a '97 TA Formula A4.
Here is the problem I'm having. Right around 50-60 mph, its almost like my TA is hesitating to shift into overdrive. It "jerks" several times before it continues to accelerate. I'm not completely sure if it is already in overdrive or not. On occasion, I'll race someone for fun on the highway, and already going 60, when i punch it, it seems do "jerk" the entire time it is accelerating. Its not one smooth acceleration. Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

if its slipping you really dont have any other option but to get it rebuilt. just got mine back two days ago from a rebuild. do yourself a favor and dont let this go unchecked...you could end up sitting on the side of the road...waiting. lol

A good rebuild is about 1500-2000k. Your problem of "jerking" may not be a tranny problem. It could also be a fuel/spark problem. Did you check to see if any plug wires are arcing? How is the fuel pressure?

I have not checked the spark plug wires, and I don't really know how to check the fuel pressure? If the wires were bad though, wouldn't this problem be noticed no matter what gear the car was in?

mine was just the price of the stuff to rebuild it. it really is nice when a family member can do that kinda stuff. the only thing is when you dont pay somebody they seem to take their good old time. srry but i cant help you with the price of a rebuild. but a good torque converter is pretty pricey.
