Why a CAI should be a first mod. lol
Ever since i put my car together it has been falling flat after 5800 or so and didnt seem to have the power it should...I think i found the problem today.
I guess I should've got an after market CAI instead of keeping my stock box and a fram filter. It was pulling so much air it tried to inhale my air filter lol, so I think ill order a moroso intake tomorrow.
The car is A LOT faster now.
I also cleaned my MAF sensor and it fixed my slow shifting to 3rd gear, also found that the previous owner had descreened it so ill be getting another screened one soon.

Hey, it wasn't much of a thread to begin with. It was filled with plot holes and I could see the ending coming a mile away.
I don't think there is much harm in running a descreened MAF, though I don't see the benefit of descreening it so I wouldn't much worry.

Who are you to say it wasn't much of a thread to begin with? As if your MAF question wasn't of the same caliber.

Dude, go find a sense of humor, what do you think the smiley was for?
I hijacked nothing, he talked about getting a CAI and a new MAF, I don't think he needs a new MAF.
Calm down, it's just the internet.

As for the MAF , I dont think it is a big deal. It is when people start porting them out it changes the calibration of things, and makes it harder for tuning the comp. Taking the screen out will not affect too much. It has a honeycomb pattern that is meant to keep the air flowing in a more uniform manner.

355z28, you're probably better off with a screened one anyways now that I think of it, descreened probably get dirty quicker.
As for the CAI, I've put in 3 K&N's into f-bodies with no trouble, and was satisfied with the end result. Especially when you hear it whine. If you're into dressed up engine bay's, I'd say go with one that is polished or powdercoated chrome color with a similar elbow, just don't over do the chrome/polished look. I do not recommened ebay intakes, though from what I've heard.
97lt1, it's ok, I'm not always funny when I try to be. =P.

is to reduce the air turbulence before it reaches the sensor(s). It would be less
of a concern if the airflow [of the intake system] were a straight shot, but since
there is a (basically) 90 degree bend before the MAF, the screen assists in
"straightening out" the airflow.
