Default cam only times

does anyone think its possible to run an 11.9 or 12.0 with the addition of a cam, shifting at 63-6400? the car weighs 3500. i was considering one of the advanced induction cam kits. and i believe a 52mm tb would help

With a LOT of weight reduction it can be done. You would have to have it set up realllllly good on suspension too. It's been done with a stock cam (and all the bolt ons possible) so yes, it can be done.

My car is still full bolt ons with a cam only (230/236 .545 .555 112 lsa)

I launched at 5900 rpm and my shift light was set to 6100 rpm but I think I'm gonna raise that to 6200 next time. I got a littlel bit of spin on the lauch but not much.

60'-1.73
1/8- 7.80
MPH-90.0
1/4-12.20
MPH- 114.2

Its getting there, I think that its still got more in it though. The night was humid and the barometer was really low. EWP, Moser 12bolt with 4.11's, Jet Hot LT's ORY w/cut out, K&N intake, march underdrive pulley, crane 1.6 rr's QA1 R's up front, sfc's, lca's. I also run on bogart D-10's ..I only have removed the ac, front sway bar, and spare tire and jack. The whole interior is in the car.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be able to get 11's

I wouldnt count on it but anything is possible. Your going to need a good night, perfect driving, and a properly worked out suspension to get in the low 12's and I wouldnt really think you would hit a 11.9 unless you pulled some weight out.

Shouldn't be a problem.

The cam-only LT1 record is in the 11.2 range and the bolt-on record is around 11.8. Heck, I knew lots of folks 10 years ago running low 12's cam-only with mild cams like the Crane 210/224. I was one of them.

if you stick a good sized cam in there and rev it along with some good suspension setup, good driving, and good weather/track conditions you can do it. you don't need a ton of trap speed to run 11s, you need to cut your 60' down.

atljar did it years ago with a full weight Z28 6 speed car. GM847, 4.33s in a 12 bolt. launched the hell out of it, shifted the hell out of it. 11.9 @ 115. you can also do minor weight reduction just for the track. tear out the back seats, spare, jack, front swaybar, front bumper support. takes some time but all goes back in easily. thats about 80 lbs right there. every little bit helps.
