Default New timing chain?

I'm swapping in a comp xe230/236 112 lsa @ .544/.555 (w/1.6 rockers) to my 38k mi lt1. I was wondering if I should get a new stock timing chain, or an entirely new upgraded one. What are my options here? I want to build this car to be reliable and I have purchased quality springs (comp 918s), rockers (crane gold race 1.6) and pushrods (comp magnums, 7.2") to do so.

How many miles are on the one you have right now? I'm guessing a lot and when you do swap the cam out I would do so while you are in there. What year ride?

Its a '94 trans am GT with 38k original miles so I think the stock chain might have alot of life left in it.

oh ya..they sugg changing it out around 90k or so. You should be fine then. If you did want to change it out the stock chains are like 30 bucks.

Ya I might as well buy one then and I'll still have a low mile back up. Thanks for the advice.

You can always upgrade to the double roller style but you would be spending some $$ to change over...and if I remember correctly, you would have to upgrade to the opti spark II if you did that
