Default stock bottom end lt1 question.

my goal for the time being will be a full bolt on car, stock bottom end. the thing thats bothering me is ive seen videos and heard of people throwing rods due to keeping the bottom end stock. whats the chances of this happening? is it really that big of a risk? if not could i just get forged pistons/rods/crank and be done with it? im keeping in mind a 383 but i want a mild build, nothing too crazy and would rather go the full bolt on route.

edit: and if i was to do forged pistons/rods/crank would i be able to get a little higher compression or a few horses with stock 346 ci somehow?

I wouldn't worry too much about the stock LT1 bottom end, just keep the RPMs no higher then 6000 & i doubt you'll have any issues, if it hasn't allready, i would start running synthetic oil in it, my 97 Z has 158XXX miles on it & i'm always at the track when possible given it hell lol, well within limits of coarse, i keep my shift points at 55-5600, these engines are touch, IMO they don't break easy unless you juice them beyond a safe limit or run em lean or rev them too high & flex a rod cap & spin a bearing, i'll put my LT1 up against any older chevy engine for durability, the LT1 is one tough cookie.

If anything, worry about that 10 bolt breaking, thats the biggest weak link on these cars, aspecially with a 6sp.

haha silly mustangs, you can beat a vette once, and only once then you need to buy a new motor! Anyways people on here run well over 500 hp on a stock bottom end before they worry about it...

sounds good everyone, thats what i figured but just wanted to make sure and yea, i also found that ironic, beats the vette and then ends up buying a new motor, who really won?
