thinkin about swappin the 355 into my boat.
I have an 91 19ft. chriscraft concept ski boat that I think needs my lt1...has anyone ever swapped an lt1 into a boat???
the stringers are plenty long enough and im sure the bellhousing will mate with the outdrive..boat currently has carbed v6 chevy.
also need to know if my Cobra outdrive will be strong enough for the 386hp 355

LMAO I don't think the motor housing gets all that wet, but all depends on how well it was made and how big of a scow it is now! Even so, a vented, silicone sealed and teflon coated (the spray stuff to waterproof boots) would probably do just peachy.
If it's a 4.3 V6 the bell housing will mate up, but any other 6 and no.
You'd need those water jacket exhaust manifolds too wouldn't you? Not that they'd be hard to get since the 350 was used in many boats.
As for the rest, I doubt it'd hold up heh But hell, it might.

ya I know about the exhaust...and the boat does have the 4.3...
I rode in a blue water ski boat one time with an outdrive that had a heads cam lt1 in it that did 85mph....freakin nasty on water.....sounded like a bigblock jetboat.
and I want that in my life..

If you want it then do it man. Thats all the advise that I can give. If its got a 4.3 then the bellhousing is the same as well as the motor mounts I believe. I personally think it would be badass, but I love the LTX motors so I may be a little bias

they used to put LT1's in mastercraft ski-boats all the time from the factory as well as many others i dont even know about
and as far as the opti lasting... hahahahaha you could probably say an opti lasts an average of 100,000 miles and a lot of times many many more than that if you consider an average speed of 45 mph over those 100,000 miles it takes over 2000 hours to do that in....
so in other words thats a lot of water time boys and girls i personally wouldn't worry about it

Easiest way? Buy a Painless LT1 harness Cheapest? Goto the junkyard and pull the whole damn thing out heh.
Since it's a 4.3, the outdrive thinger might handle the power, BUT don't be surprised if it's the "10 bolt" of your boat
