i think the true dual 2.5" setup will support more hp than a 3" y setup...someone feel free to correct on this one if im wrong.

A 3in. single exhaust system assuming no muffler can support a motor with up to ~370hp with zero loss. A dual 2.5in. system assuming no mufflers can support a motor with up to ~513hp with zero loss. I'd say 2.5 duals for the win.

I'd definitely go true duals, but if I were you I'd go 3". You never know how much you'll modify it in the future and you don't want to have to do work twice.

I am gonna get a 3" true dual system by the end of this summer, like said above the dual system will out flow a y-pipe big time. you'd have to get some really big pipes to start flowing the same numbers as a 2.5 inch x=pipe.

good luck man

i just saw a post on here about a sweet thunder chambered exhaust. it looks like it would be a good route to go for a true dual setup.

I wonder if GMMG sells the mufflers alone, instead of the whole catback assembly, that would be sweet

There was a thread on here a while back talking about a 500rwhp heads and cam LS1 build. It gave all the details about the build including how to build a proper y-pipe. After reading that thread and learning about a proper y merge, I feel there is no reason at all to go with an x pipe or any sort of true duals.

Just run long tubes into a custom made y-pipe using the flowmaster merge collector (dual 3" into single 4") and either a 3 or 4 inch cutout and you will have all the exhaust flow you will ever need.

unfortunately they don't, they claim to make their mufflers themselves but the powersticks and sweet thunders sound pretty similar.

its all about cross sectional area, yea a 4in pipe is big, but will not come close to flowing as much as two 2.5in pipes, let alone two 3in pipes

plus I bet it would cost as much to fab up a true dual set up as the 3in y-pipe into a 4in I-pipe
