LT1 Block
My engine recently spun a bearing bad enough to damage the block. I would like to still have an LT1 in my camaro. But it seems like its hard to find a good LT1 block package where I live. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find one? I've done a search and found a place in Michigan by the name of Victory engines. Has anyone on the board ever delt with that company?

I just bought a short block from a place called Cook Performance Engines they are in Martinsville,IN 317-697-6061 .They have been great to deal with and also have a 100% positive feedback on E-Bay.If you call them ask for Jake and tell him Craig Bowman told you about them and let him know how much you want to spend they will work with your budget.

Have you tried Scoggin-Dickey? I know it's been several months since I saw them advertise them, but they had a BUNCH of brand new LT-1 engines listed on their website.
Yes, those engines are over 10 years old, however they're still, brand new, never installed engines....

You dont have any performance machine shops local to you? If they can build a Gen I SBC they should have no issues working on a LT1. Victory is a sponsor on CZ28.com, I have never dealt with them. Try to farm out the short block local or in your home state if you can. Victory runs specials every once in a while.

Unfortunately there arent too many shops around the area. My block was originally supposed to be machined but after a closer look a groove had been put in the block by the crank, making it kind of iffy for repair. If I cant find a stock shortblock I'm leaning towards a 355. This is the first time I've had to do anything major with my engine so alot of this is fairly new to me. But Thanks for the info guys.

My buddy just bought a forged 383 block from Cook Performance Engines and he had nothing but good to say about the guy there and how helpful he was. The block isn't in the car yet and not sure if they come with a warranty. Maybe also check out Golen like already said as well.

You didn't say where in SE IA you are but if you're close to Farmington IA. give Cliff Couch(Couch engine rebuilding) a call (660-877-4199) and have him look at your block. He's a old timer thats been in business forever and knows his stuff.
