Buy a shortblock from the for sale section, you could def get a nice forged shortblock for less than 3k. Then go ahead and have the heads done at the same time. Reassemble, do smokey burnouts?

build a 383 u can do that with 3500 especially if ur cousins doin ur head and intake and if he'll do the block for free ur all set buy a forged rotating assembly for 1200 and a new cam for 260 and then all the other little parts lifters, pushrods, rockers, timing chain, opti, fuel injectors, and watever u need for the heads wit 4k and free machine work u should be able to do a 383 wit no problem.

Yes, tune her a little less on the ragged edge this next time.

On a serious note, how much juice was it? Stock pistons/rings?

a lifted ringland is usually from being overly rich....always verify A/F ratio

If it gets too hot the ring ends can touch I've heard? Is this right Ray? I take it if you go lean it gets hot? I read about the being too rich is disastrous in the nitrous section. My car will be on a dyno with a wideband when its in, not running the risk.

So is there a perfect A/F for a LT1 or is it based on how big of a shot, internals, etc?

I would use the stock crank, buy new forged rods and pistons for 1k, and do machine work to the block for the rest. Thats what I am going to do when its time
