Default T56 Hard Shifting

When i shift through gears, say from first to second, it seems like i hit a "bump-stop" before the shifter actuall goes into gear. It is not giving me clean directly into gear. Any ideas how to fox this?

My T56 is the same way. It has to pause for a moment before it goes in to gear. It's felt like this since I got the car, and before I went through it. It has been rebuilt with new synchros, but it was the very first trans I rebuilt, and I've learned a few things since then...

I redid one T56 recently that felt notchy like that (before). I replaced the syncho rings, slider keys, and the synchro key retainer rings in the trans, and the problem went away. Shifts smooth now. Funny thing was, the synchro rings didn't look that worn, but we replaced them 'while we were in there' (the trans had a broken 3-4 slider key, and had to come apart).

I'm going to rebuild my spare tranny and hope it's better than the one that's currently in there.
