Default LS7 clutch weight

I have a LS7 clutch + new steel flywheel ready to be installed. It's replacing my Spec 3 with the stock flywheel. I've read the LS7 clutches are heavy, but seem to remember a friend telling me the Spec 3 was heavy back when I got it.

Anyone know what the weight difference is?

I am looking at boxed weights for both the standard LS7 and the Stage 3 and they both list 28-lbs as the shipping weight. I hope this info helps. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks,

I just replaced a spec 3 with an LS7, the LS7 is heavier but I never weighed them. The total for the LS7 is about 58lbs. The engine seems to rev a little slower, or maybe its just my imagination, but the car is much nicer to drive with the LS7.

99ssleeper did you buy the LS7/LS2 flywheel, and if so did you have the balance checked?

That is what I bought and no, I did not have the balance checked. They are balanced and ready to install.

The flywheel is a heavy sum beach I tell you that much. The total ls7 kit, flywheel, pressure plate, and disc has to weigh a good 60lbs.

Thanks for the info 99ssleeper. I just put my LS7 assembly on a digital scale and it weighed 58.5lbs.

Get an aluminum flywheel and you'll be glad you did. Engine revs much faster. Shave off 20lbs....

The weight I provided were relative to the pressure-plate and disc (clutch kit) only! It seems that there are weights of the flywheels being included in so of the posts that followed so I wanted to clarify.
