Its a strong transmission, and im still going to drive it on the street for a couple more years. When i take it off the road im going to go with a 350 or 400.
I might not even worry with a muncie and just put a auto back in it, i kind of miss my stalled auto.

Waste of time. A stock muncie isn't anywhere near as strong as a t56. I run a M21 muncie behind a moderate 383 sbc (~450hp) in my truck and I've scattered its guts 3 times, broken every gear so far but 1st.
Secondly, the shifter location on a muncie is really far forward and would be clear up under the dash on a 4th gen.

b/c it's my daily driver and all 3 times it's puked has been horrible timing and I've had to fix it asap to get back on the road. It's not a bolt-on swap with a 60's 2pc rear main sbc and requires some custom parts to make it work, plus I'd either have to lose my bench seats in favor of buckets or buy a shifter relocation kit for the t56 and rebuild the whole trans. Long story short, I'm usually too broke/busy for the swap.
