Default Monster install - Pressure plate and dowel issue. *PICS*

Installing a Stage 3 monster.. have the monster 28lb flywheel and put the 3 'thick' dowel pins in as per instructions to do with the 11" pressure plate. Well, the pressure plate wont fit on the dowels and line up with the bolt holes in any combination I try.

Here is the flywheel with the dowels installed. They were a real PITA. Should of installed them before installing the flywheel.

Now.. I'm not sure from what direction the pressure plate is measured so I just went across the friction surface.

Here is the box it came in.

Maybe they just boxed it up wrong? I have the dowels for the 12" pressure plate but I don't want to try installing it like that and have an issue if I should have an 11" pressure plate. I wanted to get this done today too....

Nope have not had a issue from it. I did that on my old clutch in my V6 to, cut the dowels off to resurface it.

I do not believe that you have to use the dowels pins on the Monster installs.

i did the same thing. all you have to do to get them out is take the flywheel off and pound them out through the back. set the pressure plate on there and you will see which three you need.

I used brand new gm flywheel bolts. Will I be able to re use them if I take the flywheel off? Using some blue loc-tite maybe? Thanks for the help.

I was told they ran out of 12" boxes so they used an 11". So all in all it cost me $22(new gm flywheel bolts from stealership) and about 4 hours of wasted time. Welp, off to pound out the wrong dowels and install the right one's. Hope this helps the next guy.

I just put a stage 3 in and thought it was supposed to be 11" also. The only way it worked was following the dowel directions for the 12" one, so I guess it must be a 12.

I wonder why they don't take the sticker off the box that says 11" pp then?? That is very confusing..

Damn it i just went through this today. I didnt install anything though cause i couldnt determine what i actually have. The pressureplate is 12" and the clutch disk is 11". and of course its sunday so i cant get ahold of anyone at monster or Tick cause they are closed. Needless to say, I'll be spending another day installing this cause i couldnt finish it up today.
