is a m12 the same as m6?

I believe that M12 is a 6spd manual transmission that are in Z06 vettes and 6.0L GTO's. If you have a manual transmission that came out of your car it should bolt right up to your motor. I'm not totally sure on that though. The gearing is a little tighter in the M12 than in the T56 but that shouldn't be a big deal.

I actually "assume" longer because that transmission came in cars that have more hp/tq than what came in the f bodies. Also you might want to check the length of it compared to a T56 you might have to get a different driveshaft if the length is longer or shorter.

Same!
Not the same as a vettes m12 witch is a mn12 whole unit ! The m12 from the gto is much much stronger carbon fiber syn.... and will hold much more power ! They are little better in heavier cars ! If you like drag racing and road racing probably not for you ! You stick a taller gear in back you will be shifting all day! I have the m12 in my 2002 camaro with 3.42 figures out to about the same as a m6 with 3.73! I would much prefer my m6 back !

M12 has triple cone synchros and is close ratio trans. M6 can be built with better synchros than M12can.
Nose cone of the GTO starter is a bit different than F-Body also I discovered.
