MN12 3-4 Synchro Removal
Rebuilding the M12 from my Dads Z06. Have it all torn apart and now about to take the 3/4 synchro off. Can see that all three slider keys are broken. My how to write up that I followed for my f-body T56 says you can just pull the snap ring and then pull the 3/4 synchro, but it doesn't look like the snap ring is going to get over the bearing. Do I have to pull the bearing as well? Can it be pulled without destroying it?

On the Corvette M12/MM6, the main shaft where the 3-4 synchro splines on is smaller than the F body main shaft. The front bearing on the main shaft HAS to be removed in order for the 3-4 synchro hub to be removed. If you have a Kent Moore tool J-39443 Mainshaft/countershaft extension bearing remover, you can remove it with a press without damaging it. Otherwise, cut the cage and replace it with a new one.
