bought a rebuild kit from the gear box with new bearings and syncros and replaced 2nd gear and installed 1-2 and 3-4 bronze fork pads......and yes i have the shifter on it....im thinking maybe the 5-6 shift rail has came loose where it goes on the main shift rail? also i have a spacer of some sort that i dont know where it goes and didnt notice that i hadnt installed it until a lil while ago...i looked at the rebuild manual and couldnt really tell where it went...it looked like all the spacers were the same but this one looks diff than the rest of em....ill get some pics up of it tomorrow...

If the 5-6 was binding when you push it to the right but you actually got it to shift into 5th? If you did manage to shift it into 5th, it will not be your 5-6/reverse shift rod.
Is the spacer flat on one side and have shoulder on the other? That goes on the bottom of the extension shaft and top of the cluster/counter shaft if the trans was facing down.

the spacer kind of looks like a bottle cap with a hole throught the middle...if that was left out could this cause the binding? or is it the shims under the main and counter shaft possibly being too thick?
