Default How do I change my throwout bearing.

I have a new centerforce throwout bearing but I can't figure out how to remove it from the throwout bearing housing. Is there a clip I'm not seeing or is it pressed in. Me new bearing also looks a little different then the old one. The surface where the shifter fork rides is shorter.
Centerforce P/N N1716 for a 95 Z28

thanks

To remove the original bearing you need to compress it, pushing it down, and turn it to the left. It will click and come right off. Then you press the new one on and turn it to the right. It can be a little difficult to to do but don't over-think it!

On an LT1, there is a spring that goes about 3/4 of the way around the bearing. Just pop that spring out, then the bearing will come right off the pressure plate fingers. $268 for just the bearing is rediculous...You can buy a complete new clutch kit with TOB for $199 from Autozone.

Sorry man...I was thinking LS1 not LT1. There is a clip-ring on the bottom of the bearing, pull the clip-ring and the bearing will slide right out. As for the cost of the bearing, you normally can;t buy these seperately so the dealer was likely billing you for a new plate too!

No I did not pay the $268 just for the bearing. I bought one from summit-racing for $40 but it was the wrong one. Mine was making a little bit of noise so I'll just use that one for now. I have everything apart now so I thought I might as well replace it but that did not work out.
Hear in Canada the cheapest clutch I can buy is a Luc for $450. I dont need a clutch, and a stock clutch is not going to do me any good.
I'm looking into beefing up my tranny so I'll deal with the bearing then.

Spec 01. No that was just the price for the throwout bearing. Just for the heck of it I asked how much for the complete clutch and the dealer said $1300. We get robbed up hear in Canada for auto parts.

No kidding...that is insane! I can sell you a bearing if you need one. Just give me a call.
