Default best place to build t56?

im curious what the best place to get a viper rebuild done at is. i was thinking tick performance but then i started to consider d&d. it will be daily drivin so no faceplating and has to be reliable.

side note: when you use a viper input and output shaft, wouldnt u needba different clutch disc and ds slip yoke? where do u get them?

The viper input has the same spline size/count. The front end of it needs machined a bit, but the GM disc works with it.

user "calhoon" has posted the Chrysler slip yoke info here in the past.

We very rarely ever see a problem with the GM input shafts, so the Viper input upgrade is more of a gimmick than anything. We don't even offer the input upgrade - just the mainshaft upgrade.

Our Level 3 is here: http://www.tick-performance.com/tick...s/fbody/#three

We've tried numerous transmission places at my performance shop, we've yet to find anyone better than the guys at Tick. Great guys, great service, and it comes with a warranty they'll stand behind!

In the end, you have numerous choices, do research and choose wisely!

To the OP,

Call Jason at TDP, he has been rebuilding T56s for years at a very reasonable (cheap) price. I don't trust anyone else with my rebuild. 817-300-6840. Ask around on the forum if you have never heard of him, he is very well known throughout the Dallas/Ft Worth area. He specializes in T56s, and has his own clutch system. http://www.texasdrivetrainperformance.com/

If you want the best, unlike any other shop, I offer a 31-spline HD output shaft conversion. It is stronger than the 30-spline Viper shaft. The Stage 3 build runs $1380, and includes the u-joint and yoke. This shaft requires MUCH more machining than the Viper, so it would be safe to assume that is the reason that no one else offers this.

hmm i may have to look into this. is it really necessary? so even with a stock input shaft, viper main shaft, and viper output shaft, the output shaft it still the weak link?

i wont be doing this anytime soon. im just checking it out for when i am ready.

just so you know, im looking at 550 rwhp on motor then a 200 shot on top of it daily driving, beating the **** out of it. i dont want to buy anything not needed but i dont wanna cheap out and break **** 300 miles from home. its a high milage lt1 core. what do u reccomend?

Hey Elky,

Jason don't bite. Give him a call. He is usually too busy to be posting on the forum. He is owner and mechanic of Texas Drivetrain Performance. So you will not talk to a receptionist.

Don't get all hung up on "Viper" this "Viper" that lol. The Viper mainshaft is simply a 30-spline one made of 9310 Steel. The stock mainshaft is 27-spline and a lower grade of steel. The shaft that I use is just like the Viper , but 31-spline, so it is approximately 10% stronger. It will easily handle the power you plan to make.
