Default No-Walk bushing Walked

I pulled my shifter out while diagnosing a leak and noticed some scoring on the tailshaft bushing thru the oil hole. I pulled the drive shaft out and the tailshaft bushing came with.

When i installed it, there was hardly any puckering and I made sure the driveshaft turned by hand. You think the tail housing is trashed?

Here are some additional pictures:

Did you stake it once it was in?
Did you loctite it?
One or both are mentioned by Rockland in the instructions.

I staked it and used the loctite green when I installed it. It took a bit of force to drive it in also.

my 'no-walk' bushing also spun. i was going about 145mph and it spun and all of the sudden i had a terrible vibration. probably too much driveshaft speed, but my stock one was fine until i got a 9" and the driveshaft was too short and spun that bushing. i just replaced the no-walk bushing with a stock one last night... we'll see how it works.

I had no vibration, no indication it had spun except for the fact I saw the scoring around the bushing thru the oil hole.

I just tapped a timken 5200 in and I also am putting in a seal with dust shield. The timken drove it without puckering. I put some loctite green and staked it again. I'm in the process of putting the drive shaft back in now.

Hello,

I am just finishing rebuilding my first T56... I just read about this no walk bushing on another build thread and was looking online where to order one and stumbled upon this thread. Did your problem get solved after installing the other bushing? Would you shy away from the no walk bushing? 90 vette, 400 hp to the wheels, factory driveshaft and Dana 44 rear axle. Hope you got it figued out!

So far the th400 bushing has not walked after about 2k miles. I liked the way the "No Walk" looked much better than the other. It myst have been too tight on the driveshaft when i installed it. I know I had an easier time installing the th400 bushing over the "No Walk"

Not sure I can recommend going one way or the other at this point.

Best bet is probably having a machine shop match the tailhousing to the bushing to the driveshaft..

figured I would bring this back up to light.. I was looking at installing my "no walk bushing" and I was trying to locate the loctite listed. ive seen it in the past but wouldn't you know it Not one store had it now (a few could order it). and what has me thinking is the posts here saying they used "green loctite" if thats the case this might be why some are walking! the specific loctite is RC 609. the green you see in the stores its not for bonding press fit bushings.. also the newer bushing requires the staking in two places (most likely over the groves in the housing)
