Default Lt1 t56/ls1 t56 question????

i just wanted to know if the LT1 t56 can be mated to a ls engine? silly question? i have a 350 sbc and th350, BUT, i am planning on doing an ls swap in the future. im also looking to convert to manual. the thing is the LT1 trans is considerably cheaper than the LS1 trans. also, could i put the t56 behind the sbc for now until i purchase an ls engine. i know i should get the whole package together ie: ls1 + t56, but i dont have 5 or 6k to spend and i need a new trans anyway. i dont know guys give me some feedback please! oh and its going in a "81 g body regal. thanx in advance.

You will need to convert the LT1 T56 to a LS1 T56. To do that you have to change out the Front Plate, Input Shaft, and get the LS1 Bellhousing.

Most people just unbolt them and swap that out, that is the incorrect way to do it.

The correct way is to swap the parts, then check for end-play in on the Input Shaft & Counter Shaft, and adjust the shims as necessary.

It would be easier to get the LS1 T56 upfront.

The G-body is a nice swap, I just finished my '84 MCSS so if you need a hand droppin in the T56 stuff shoot me a message..there are a couple of tricks..
