Getting to reverse
What causes a car to be hard going over to reverse. Not hard going into it but it acts as if reverse lock out is on but you can take both hands and move it on over. Could this be normal or could the reverse lockout switch gone bad and half engaging it.

does it grind when you try put on revert, some time pop put revert ? on these car you need step on the brake to get that revert lock out ot pop. If it grind on revert, then it just age of the t56 -_-

No its a tick level 2 with only a few hundred miles on it. It doesn't grind at all. It won't go over for it to come up into reverse once it slides over it goes up perfectly it just won't go over to the reverse part of the gear pattern.

Mines doing the same thing. Feels like a really strong spring is holding it when I push over into reverse. I think its probably the lockout solenoid. When I first got the car it would disengage half the time but now it never does. So far Ive been living with it but I can push it over with one hand. If I had to use both hands I would have replaced the solenoid by now.

It just started doing this after reinstalling the transmission. I also had heads and cam done on it but after searching I'm thinking maybe the skipshift and reverse lockout plug ins got mixed up.

reverse lockout is enabled by the pcm when vehicle speed is less then 3mph. a quick test is putting 12v to it and check operation of solenoid, another is to back probe connector when running in nuetral with p brake on. if no voltage check wire harness ands possibly backprobe at ecu pins to check voltage there also. i did a m6 swap from an a4 and used a switched 12v and used the p brake switch in the p brake assm for a ground. pull the p brake up 1 click for reverse, so far it works fine.
