Default 3rd gear grinding

Been driving around my newly purchased 1998 z28. Going through the gears seem fine until you try and go into 3rd fast.No other gear grinds. The previous owner installed a new clutch. Is this just synchros?

Do you know what kind of clutch/MC setup the car has?

Try and shift into third gear at a real low RPM. At like 10mph or so, then lay it to the boards and see if it pops out of gear. If so, you need a trans rebuild.

Mine does this 2-4. I can sit in the garage with the car idling and if I try to shift it into gear fast it will do that. I'm getting a new trans. I think the blocker rings are shot and that's what's causing it to grind. If I shift slow it goes in fine.

I had the same problems with mine. when driving under normal conditions it shifted fine with no grinding. When I would shift it fast it would grind every time. I had the whole car apart at my friends shop. New master cylinder, slave cylinder and tranny was pulled apart. We replaced 5-6 gear and synchros for 3rd. after getting it back together it still does it. My friend is confused and doesn't know why its still grinding. I also replaced clutch with a stage 2+ SPEC. It isn't working properly either even after bleeding it. SPEC talked about putting in an adjustable master cylinder but I just replaced the current one. Any more info will be helpful and I will start a new thread on this. Good luck with your tranny.
