Default Synthetic DOT3?

I have heard that there can be issues with synthetic fluid on seals? I posted this link and would like some feedback please. I have to do my fluid and drill mod to hopefully fix the sticking pedal. Also, if you click on the application guide at the bottom it will take you to a fluid level chart for any vehicle. Thanks for the comments, Les. http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/bf3.aspx

OK, is anyone using synthetic fluid or aftermarket brands or just OEM? Anyone?

Not sure why people aren't using DOT4.... I always use Prestone synthetic DOT4 in my cars and never have a complaint, with my Tick MC, the fluid stays clear for a really long time!

I use synthetic DOT3 or DOT4 when available and it's all perfect here, have a Tick master and LS7 clutch that love being beat on!

Many thanks, I can get the Amsoil DOT3 but the DOT4 is not available in Canada by their web site. Looking at the specs regarding higher boiling point and being less hydroscopic it has to be better than OEM? With only 48,000kms on the vehicle, I am hoping that fluid and drill mod will do it! Les>>>

If that doesn't do it, I'd consider looking for a replacement clutch. Feel free to call me with any questions. Chris, 817-750-2000

Thanks, my issue is losing the pedal like everyone else, not slippage. Should I be thinking about a clutch at 48,000 kms? I am hoping its not a slave cylinder?

The pedal drops when the clutch is slipping as the diaphragm springs get weak and collapse. The longevity of a clutch really depends on the driver, I've seen them destroyed in far less miles. Having a problem definitely accelerates the wear of a clutch, let us know what you find.

Default Same problem

I once had the same problem and it turned out the slave cylinder was leaking and had gone bad. Once inside I decided to go ahead and replace the clutch and flywheel along with a new slave cylinder. I ended up using a C5 GM Z06 clutch and flywheel. The clutch/pedal works fine. If you let it go, your pedal will finally stick not come back up.
